As a business, the shop front is designed to have a large logo that can attract customers from a distance. Additionally, seasonal promotions displayed on screens can make them more willing to engage.
The owners want the Somtum station to be located in the front to attract customers with its distinct aromas.
The shop has the unique feature of having a lower ceiling and less space, which creates a cosy atmosphere in contrast to an open layout that may feel too spacious. This makes the restaurant an inviting and comfortable place to be.

Pieces of gradient fabric are hung diagonally to reduce the depth of the restaurant.
To shorten the distance from the innermost table, one side of the wall grill has been painted blue.

In Kitchen Lao, the fabric can be appreciated from any seat, offering a unique perspective to all.

The air conditioning system is discreetly located on the high ceiling, and the gentle blowing of the fabric creates a unique sense of movement in the space.
The fabric can also control the lights by providing shading.

Kitchen Lao, 2021
The owners of Kitchen Lao, a restaurant serving Northeastern Thai cuisine located at the Promenade in Bangkok, plan to rebrand and renovate their establishment. Junsekino Interior Design and I, as the project's lead designer, have decided on the main concept of "transition." To convey this idea without text, we have chosen a gradient of blue (the CI color) transitioning to white. Our aim is to create a restaurant that is neither too dark nor too bright, while incorporating craftsmanship details as decorative elements.
